Instant chart summary before a session
An EHR feature summarizes key patient information and history so a clinician can get oriented fast.
What it does
Pulls highlights from the chart into a short summary at the top of the record.
Where the privacy line sits
Full chart access means full PHI. Apply minimum necessary thinking to who can run summaries, and check summaries against the chart before acting on them.
- PHI: BAA required. Touches protected health information. Needs a Business Associate Agreement if HIPAA applies.
- 42 CFR Part 2. May touch substance use disorder records covered by Part 2. Get counsel's review of consent and redisclosure.
What stays human
Clinical interpretation. A summary can leave out the one detail that matters.
